Do All Delegates Adopt an Active Attitude?
The crisis was declared at the beginning of the meeting. Previously, very few countries were willing to send military troops to Rwanda. However, just after the declaration of the first crisis, many countries expressed a willingness to provide more troops to the region, which is still strongly opposed by the delegate of Rwanda. The author wonders if all the countries have thoroughly assessed the current situation and the stances of their respective nations.
BBTG: Is This Necessary for the Ongoing Crisis?
Currently opposed by the delegate of Rwanda, BBTG has been proposed by the permanent member states. Given the ongoing crisis, BBTG seems to be focused on seeking long-term peace. Is it necessary to address it at this moment?
Why Did the Delegate of China Use the Veto Power?
After the immediate discussion of the crisis, all member states proposed Draft Directive 1.1 to the Dais. According to the explanation from the delegate of China, he used the veto power because he felt that Draft Directive 1.1 primarily addressed long-term measures for the Rwanda issue, rather than focusing on the ongoing crisis. Based on China’s action, he urged all delegates to prioritize the current situation. While the author appreciates this stance, there is suspicion about whether China is using the veto for more confidential reasons.
