Is the Rwanda crisis solved? About the current status of Rwanda

Since the Berlin Conference in 1884, Rwanda has been divided among the African powers of Europe, and after World War I, it has become a colonial of Belgium.The deepening of social classes of Hutu and Tutsi ethnic groups under the continuous transformation of European colonizers also planted the seeds of the later civil war in Rwanda.

Global Storm, as one of the key offices of the Press Center of NSMUN, is extremely concerned about the effectiveness of this meeting in the United Nations Security Council. 

On one hand, it is questioned whether the Western countries can successfully resolve the dispute between the Hutu and Tutsi with their belief, “the highest efficiency and the lowest cost”. In addition, can UNAMIR improve its efficiency, and can countries strengthen its effectiveness in terms of potential issues, such as funding, equipment, training methods, and so forth?

On the other hand, if the tensions between two major ethnic groups continue to heat up, is it possible for the two communities to live in peace? Will the current ruling party in Rwanda show a different attitude from the previous peace talk? Will the RPF in Uganda propose a different solution? We look forward to seeing Member States in the Security Council to consult and make substantive decisions to restore peace in Rwanda and its neighbouring countries.
